The question has been asked of me, what stain (prior to embeddment) to use to be able to see a cluster of cells embedded in LR white. Since post sectioning colloidal gold labeling is to be performed, the cells have not been osmicated. They are translucent in the polymerized block. From my understanding, the targeted gold binding site is a glycoprotein. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what stain to use to be able to visualize the cells, yet not interfer with labeling?

Try 0.1% Neutral Red. May need to go stronger. In water, or buffer.
