Sample Analysis Event: Live Cell Imaging with EVOS®

The Flow Cytometry core laboratory will host an open event showcasing Life Technologies newest live cell imaging microscope, the EVOS FL Auto Imaging System.

Faculty, staff, and students are welcome to bring plates, slides, or samples to the Flow Cytometry lab during the day for sample analysis with the EVOS microscope.

Sample analysis: 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Technology presentation: 11 a.m.

Revolutionary new design in automation that takes the complex out of complexity! With the fully automated EVOS Live cell imaging microscopes you can now setup very complex experiments in a matter of a few minutes with our wizard tool. The great thing about this system is that you do not have to be advanced in microscopy to understand how to navigate your way through our software.

The system has capabilities of time lapse for multi-channel, multi-well, live cell experiments over hours, days or even weeks; Z-stacking with maximum image projects and the capabilities of doing deconvolusion; stitching and tiling of images; and plate scanning. The system has a built in monochrome camera which is capable of imaging from UV to the far reds in fluorescence and a color camera for color metric stains. Magnifications range from 1.25x to 100x oil.

The EVOS utilizes wave length-specific LED for its illumination, which drastically reduces photo bleaching in channels not in use. Its short light path also delivers two to three times more excitation energy then the more traditional mercury based system. The system is capability of excite weaker signals, thus the system does not photobleach as quickly and your samples last for longer periods of time.
