Seminar: Development of an Absolute Quantitation Method for 551 Proteins in Human Retinas and Surrounding Tissue

August 14, 2014 @ 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM

Speakers: Craig P. Dufresne, Angelito I. Nepomuceno, Randi Turner, Richard D. Semba

The Association of Bimolecular Resource Facilities 2013 study on developing a mass spectrometry standard for quantitative proteomics has been commercialized into the JPT SpikeTides™ Peptide standard. This sample of 1000 heavy labeled peptides represents 551 proteins found in human, mouse, and rat samples. This talk will explain the development and implementation of a triple quadrupole workflow for using those peptides to measure the amounts of their native forms in cell lysates. Johns Hopkins Department of Opthamology has provided retinas, cordoid, and retinal pigment epithelium lysates form five healthy donors which will be used to show the applicability to real biological problems.

Lunch will be provided to attendees.
