Schedule a Monoclonal Antibody Project Before the Holidays
If you have been thinking about starting a new monoclonal antibody development project, December is a great time to begin.
Immunization, the first phase, occurs during week one and again in week three of the project. If antigens are received by December 10, 2013, the primary immunization will be given before the year-end and the secondary will be occur in early to mid-January.
The screening process to assay an immune response and schedule the fusion phase of the project will follow. Generating a valuable custom monoclonal antibody is a great way to start the New Year!!
Monoclonal antibodies are frequently used in basic research on campus. Antibodies have also been developed by UF researchers and then licensed to entities through the UF Office of Technology Licensing. Example of antibodies developed at ICBR and now available are:
- Targeting Receptor that Regulates Calcium Levels in Cells
- Targeting a Protein that Initiates the Physiological Stress Response
