The ICBR Proteomics & Mass Spectrometry core now offers services using the newly acquired Thermo Scientific™ Q Exactive™ Hybrid Quadrupole-Orbitrap™ Mass Spectrometer. This instrument is the newest generation of the popular Orbitrap series. It generates high quality MS and MS/MS data and is capable of obtaining 140,000 resolution and <1 ppm mass accuracy. Its advanced quadrupole technology improves quantitation of low-abundance ions in complex matrices. In addition to high-throughput quantitation and identification, the QE+ provides new capabilities, including:

  • Data-independent analysis (DIA) to acquire quantitative data with qualitative confirmation.
  • Selected-ion monitoring (SIM) for targeted and sensitive quantitation in samples of medium complexity.
  • Parallel-reaction monitoring (PRM) for highly specific and sensitive quantitation in samples of high complexity.

The instrument is coupled with a Thermo EASY-nLC1000 for LC-MS experiments. This acquisition benefits our current workflow and offers new capabilities and advanced technology to be applied to your research projects.
