Selecting the Best Antibody for Your Research

For over 25 years, the ICBR Hybridoma Lab has developed novel monoclonal antibodies for researchers at UF. Often, experiments requiring antibodies can be completed with commercially available antibodies. However, it isn’t always straightforward to select the best antibody for a research application based on information provided in vendor catalogs or on vendor websites.

1DegreeBio has joined forces with the Antibody Technologies Research Group of the Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities to create the Perfect Antibody Initiative and raise awareness about issues related to finding high quality research antibodies.

This project is motivated by the need for researchers to have access to key information in order to make informed decisions on which antibody is best suited for their studies. Through better communication and knowledge exchange, time and money spent finding that perfect antibody should be significantly reduced.

Over a 6 week period, starting on November 15, 2012, the 1DegreeBio blog will feature a series of short articles related to the Perfect Antibody Initiative, challenges in finding and troubleshooting antibodies, and resources available to help scientists in their search for the perfect antibody.
